Spend An Exciting Christmas Break At Ski Resorts

Christmas is when families get together and spend some great times with each other. Instead of planning large family meals and then doing endless hours of cleaning, spending your Christmas break at ski resorts is one of the best family holidays you will ever have.

You can’t hope for a more picturesque setting than a ski resort. Endless miles of snow covered terrain, clear skies, a backdrop of majestic mountains and charming villages decked up with beautiful Christmas decorations create a magical ambience. You can spend the day on the ski slopes and then unwind around log fires in the evening with your family.

There are an infinite number of ski resorts you can visit, but if you are going on a skiing holiday you better be sure that there’s enough snowfall. A high altitude resort is a good bet because global warming has led to uncertain weather and some resorts in Europe now have bare and brown mountains in December.

Keystone is one of the finest ski resorts in the US state of Colorado. It has great slopes for skiers of every ability. Colorado’s most famous resort is Aspen and has everything from fine pistes to wonderful entertainment, which probably account for its continued popularity. The resort of Whistler-Blackcomb in the Canadian Rockies is often rated as the best in North America. It offers a wide choice of slopes, great powder and even night skiing. If you haven’t gone night skiing before, it is worth trying. The slopes are less crowded than in the day and floodlit slopes almost seem to glow at night.

The Swiss resorts of Gstaad and Zermatt not only offer superb skiing but also are imbued with unique Alpine charm. Another world-class resort is the French one of Chamonix. There are great slopes for beginners but it’s also a big draw for expert skiers who find the vertical drops challenging and exhilarating. Austria and Italy too have some wonderful ski resorts.

If you prefer warm weather to the chill of winter, consider going on a cruise to the Caribbean or the Bahamas over Christmas. Cruises are usually expensive but not if you can get one of many last minute cruise deals that sometimes offer as much as 60% discounts on the regular fare.
